Emancipation Day (Day 2)

Setup & Arrival: Warm, welcoming environment with creative tie-dye supplies and treats. Youth signed in, building responsibility and ownership.

  • Opening Session: Mrs. Folashade emphasized discipline, consistency, and long-term success. A video on Emancipation Day highlighted African Nova Scotian history, resilience, and leadership.


  • Tie-Dye Activity: Youth designed symbolic T-shirts representing freedom, unity, and empowerment. This encouraged creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.


  • Kahoot Game: A 46-question quiz on identity, leadership, and growth. Lively competition, with prizes for winners.


  • Outdoor Games: Sack race, egg-and-spoon, tug of war, and three-legged race taught teamwork, patience, and perseverance. Winners received medals and prizes.


  • T-Shirt Showcase & Lunch: Youth proudly presented their T-shirts, sharing personal reflections on freedom and empowerment. A KFC lunch fostered bonding.


  • Awards Ceremony & Closing: Recognition of youth for consistency and commitment. Group photos captured pride, unity, and joy. The day ended with cleanup and warm goodbyes.
